DESCRIPTION

  • The Association for Leadership Science in Nursing (ALSN) Board of Directors (BOD) identified the need to develop guidelines/criteria to guide the development, implementation, evaluation and review or accreditation of Nursing Leadership Graduate Specialty programs in the United States. It is also expected that these guidelines/criteria may be used to guide the development of new Nursing Leadership Graduate Specialty programs and to conduct self-evaluation of new and existing programs.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

  1. Explore guidelines/criteria for the development, implementation and evaluation of Nursing Leadership Specialty programs.
  2. Encourage questions and input from webinar participants on the criteria.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

  • This activity was developed to meet the needs of all levels of Nursing Faculty and all nurses across the continuums of care that serve as preceptors for nursing leadership and administration students.
  • This webinar is also appropriate for providers and/or providers-in-training from diverse healthcare professions including physicians, nurses, dentists, physician assistants, pharmacists, and program administrators.

BIO:

Kathleen M. White, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN is a Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. She holds a joint faculty appointment in the Hopkin’s Carey School of Business and adjunct faculty in the School of Education where she teaches in the Master’s in Education for Health Professionals. She served a Director of the Master’s Specialty and DNP Programs at the JHSON and the track coordinator for Health Systems Management (MSN) and MSN/MBA programs at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing for 20 years. She is a certified NEA-BC. Dr. White co-chaired the ANA committee for the last revision to the Scope and Standards of Practice for Nursing Administration. Most recently she chaired the ALSN’s Task Force to develop guidelines/criteria will be used to evaluate Nursing Leadership Specialty Master’s, Practice Doctorate, and Post-Graduate Certificate Educational Programs.

NURSING CEs

  • This course has been approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider #CEP16785, for a maximum of 1.00 Nursing Contact Hour. The licensee must retain this document for a period of four (4) years after the course concludes. 
  • All participants will receive their certificate of attendance with CE after completion of the webinar survey.
  • An archive will be available if you are unable to participate in the live webinar. CE may be requested after viewing the recorded session.
